Welsh Ponies originate from Wales, and are broken down into four pony and cob groups: Welsh Mountain Pony (Section A), Welsh Pony of Riding Type (Section B), Welsh Pony of Cob Type (Section C) and Welsh Cob (Section D).
Welsh Mountain Pony - The smallest of the Welsh Pony breeds
Welsh Pony of Riding Type - A larger, yet slightly more refined Welsh Pony, but still just as hardy as the Welsh Mountain Pony
Welsh Pony of Cob Type - A heavier, but compact, cob type horse with moderate feathering on the legs
Welsh Cob - The largest and heaviest type within the Welsh Pony and Cob sections, measuring a minimum of 13.2 hands high.
Welsh Ponies are strong and hardy ponies and are a popular pleasure and show mount, or driving horse.
