Thoroughbreds are considered a "hot blood" type of horse, meaning that they're typically high-strung and temperamental - great characteristics to have for the racetrack! Racehorses who have retired from the track are often successfully re-trained as pleasure riding or show horses. Breeding Thoroughbreds with other types of horses, such as draft horses or stock type horses usually creates a lighter, more refined riding horse.
