German Riding Ponies are bred to look like small, full-sized horses, specially suited as a childs' and youths' mount. They are known as "miniature warmbloods" with long, slender legs and an elegant physique, as opposed to ponies who have shorter, stockier legs and a thicker body. German Riding Ponies developed in 1965, and are a crossbreed of Welsh Pony, Arabian, Anglo-Arab, and Thoroughbred.
